We broke the news that Yamaha will be stepping into the EV business in India, and its first electric offering would be the Neo’s. Now, given that this electric scooter was originally intended to replace the 50cc ICE scooters in Europe, it packs a range of 38.5km (dual-battery variant stretches it to 68km) and has minimal features. All of that for an exorbitant price tag of R 2.98 lakh! Is that enough to take on the likes of the Ather 450X, Ola Electric S1 or even the Bajaj Chetak or TVS iQube Electric? We don’t think so.
