I couldn’t resist… they say know when to walk away from a painting, but after watching this again this morning I couldn’t help noticing a couple of photos out of focus, lyrics not in synch & there was a bass note in the bridge that was getting up my nose. LOL Sorry for posting this twice. :-) “Once Around The Block” - cover by Alex Kyle I’ve never been a big fan of the ol’ “three chord turn-around” (especially these days, when it’s all you hear!). I find it a lazy way to write a song. HOWEVER - complete hypocrite that I am (!!), I’ve always really liked this song. I find the melody totally hypnotic, and once it’s in my head it’s there for days! He’s also got a way to phrase a lyric that’s pretty cool. It’s by “Badly Drawn Boy” (aka - Englishman Damon Gough) released waaaaaay back in 2000. I also love the softer version by Norway’s “Kings of Convenience”. I borrowed a few phrases from both, but was basically bored and playing around with harmonies. Unfortunately, I get impatient when recording, so everything’s a bit rushed and done in one take. I didn’t really go through and fix up any errors so it’s a bit rough. Anyway - it’s always fun to play with stuff like this. Also - I haven’t worked out how to put an audio file on Facebook, so I just did a quick video with some random photos from my travels. Have fun! :-) www.alexkylemusic.com.au
