@[PC] Physicus (1999) - Full Playthrough
On 7/15/19, I uploaded a new playthrough of this game that improves upon a few issues with this video. If you'd like to watch that instead, you can find a link to it below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA61UxLgsiE Physicus (also known as Physicus: Save the World With Science!) Platform: PC Recorded on VMware Workstation emulating Windows XP. Adventure game playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLL6IvCPYLqOXm-E-peJ-sVjmt8EOXQ83x This is a playthrough of an educational adventure game for the PC, developed by Ruske & Pühretmaier Design and Multimedia GmbH. It was localized and published by Tivola Electronic Publishing and released in 1999. Physicus is a "Myst-like" adventure game in which the player uses a point-and-click interface to explore a prerendered 3D world from a first-person perspective. The player arrives in an abandoned village on a planet whose rotation has stopped due to the impact of a meteor. They must seek out and enable three generators in order to power a cannon to launch the meteor back into space and cause the planet to resume rotation. Physicus is an "edutainment" game, meaning it attempts to be an entertaining adventure game while also teaching the player about various scientific concepts. In my experience, it is one of the better edutainment games out there, since an atmospheric adventure game like Myst lends itself well to scientific/physics-based puzzles. In my opinion, I'd say the educational elements do not take away from the game, but rather give it its own unique theme. Physicus also contains a huge amount of "educational chapters" in the form of narrated lessons with animations and demonstrations. These lessons often include concepts, values, and formulas required to solve puzzles. In this video, I decided to only show the lessons which contain required information to complete the game. This is because recording the vast amount of educational content would probably more than double the video's length, and most of that would likely be things people aren't interested in. I may record all of the lessons as a supplementary video in the future.
