I went to see the movie Jesus Revolution. The true story of Chuck Smith The hippies that entered his life bringing about the Jesus movement in the late 60’s. By 1970 the revival was reaching the east coast and the rest of the world. In Central New York 1970, my lonely teenage years took an abrupt change when I was caught smack in the middle of a group of Christian kids who would soon identify themselves as Jesus freaks. I hated the church songs we sang and it wasn’t long before I taught myself how to play guitar and eventually piano. Through the 70s and into the early 80’s I wrote hundreds of songs and many of our worship songs were ones I wrote. Everyone there seemed to have written at least one song. It was the beginning of my music development and a very creative time. This one I wrote to perform at coffee houses. To this day every time I sit at a piano I always start playing this song. After seeing the movie i immediately recorded it to share here. Interesting that when I started going to a non hippy church in the 80’s my music fell flat and didn’t fit into how churches used music. In fact the pastor said my music reminded people of their drug days LOL! I joined a Christian rock band and after two gigs I was tossed.
