Gerry Lewis, son of Jerry Lewis Was in a popular band from 1965 to about 1970. Gerry Lewis & The Playboys, with a string of memorable hits like This diamond ring, Save your Heart For Me, Everybody Loves A Clown. Count Me In written by Glen Hardin. The song was produced by Snuff Garrett and arranged by Leon Russell, and reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, behind "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" by Herman's Hermits. Outside the US, "Count Me In" went to No. 6 in Canada, and No. 49 in Australia in 1965. It was featured on their 1965 album, Gerry lewis is still performing. he did a nice interview a few months ago. after Lewis was drafted in 1968 and returned to the studio after his stint, music was changing and they were not able to get their momentum back. The sad story of many artists from the 1060’s The songs of that era were catchy and fun, I guess that’s why i have done so many of them.
