As such they do not at this point pose a threat to the progressive wing, unless they vote as viciously as their predecessors, which we can assume will be the case. The Bernie Candidates have won exclusively in Democratic Districts. We have 7 new progressives Would they all oppose escalation of tensions with Russia? Pressuring Israel into a 2 state solution? Ending aid to PetroMonarchies and their military interventions, both conventional and asymmetric, in the middle east? Will they vote against the NIAA and the NDAA? These National Security candidates will likely be as hawkish as their Republican predecessors, but they are less likely to be fiscally extreme on matters like medicare, regulation, etc, more akin to Clinton-Obama with a touch of Joe Manchin thrown in. So we can understand from the Clinton Centrist Third Way DLC perspective why the Bernie Progressives are a pain. They are winning at the national level in Democratic districts. The Corporate Democrats must be having spasms of ecstasy seeing 10 of their 28 seats gained courtesy of national security democrats. A system built on “waiting your turn” and rewarding loyalty does not take kindly to non well heeled insurgents, who then burn up the donors funds in primaries. However 2020 will be quite different, as the primary progressive if they are of the caliber of Bernie Sanders, should drive turnout of progressive voters to challenge in places like Oklahoma and Colorado. I would agree with others that Democrats appearing more focused on going after Trump over his intrigues, rather than clearly putting forward a progressive agenda, created the situation in the Senate, as we certainly could have put more people who vote for special interests under pressure and exposed. Instead the Democrats and their supporters in the media have not focused on Trumps extremely damaging policies of massive military increases (Which they full throatedly endorse!) and his massive tax cuts for the rich, wherein we see no clear vision articulated about focusing on policies that benefit working class everyday people. With RussiaGate we have chimerical tales, but with Israelgate with the release of the Israel Lobby, we have the hard evidence of meddling at a grand scale. Even with this awareness, the man Trump chose to invite in and watch the election with him was Sheldon Adelson, an advocate of an ultra warlike posture of Israel with an incredibly harsh treatment of Palestinians, and Trump’s principal backer, along with Bannons Meltzer
