Alina Dyatlova's video: Where is Caitlin Potts MMIWG

At the time of her disappearance, Caitlin Potts was 27 years old, originally from Sampson Cree First Nation, born and raised in Alberta and settled in British Columbia a few years before her disappearance. Caitlin has been missing since February 22, 2016. On the morning of February 22, 2016, Caitlin sends a Facebook message to her sister and she tells her that she had found a ride to Calgary via a Kijiji and that she “would be coming back tonight for sure". Her roommate from a shelter in Salmon Arm, BC confirmed this and reported that Caitlin messaged her the morning of February 22, 2016 and told her she had met a stranger the night before and was on her way to catch a ride to Calgary. A witness puts Caitlin’s last known location in Enderby, BC and police say she was last seen near the Shuswap River. RCMP says while it was believed Potts had plans to leave BC for Alberta, the RCMP has determined she never left the Enderby area. Potts' family members say they were told early on in the investigation to prepare for the worst — that their loved one was most likely murdered. Let’s challenge our white privilege and work through our white fragility together so we can effectively show up and do the work that is required of us. Systemic violence is rooted in white supremacy and has been flowing through our institutions for centuries, always wearing a new mask - a new face to fit the social climate of “today”. The work ahead of us is not easy, and will be difficult, awkward at times. As white folk, we benefit from these systems whether we realize it or not, and it is our job to dismantle it - piece by piece; we must acknowledge that the actions and inactions of our ancestors further solidified racial biases, discrimination and oppression.
