Este film denota los lazos existente entre el Xing Yi Quan y el Baguazhang cuando Dongfangxu, se consigue con Palma Mágica Li quien será su futuro entrenador. Según algunos historiadores este maestro se corresponde con el Mítico Artista Marcial Guo Yunshen (1827-1902) "Palma Mágica" de Xing Yi, de allí que siempre relacionan el Baguazhang con el Xing Yi Quan (Hsing I). Algunos maestros puristas del Baguazhang rechazan esta aseveración. Lo importante es notar según el film, que ambos maestros Palma Mágica Li y Guo Hai (Maestro de Dongfangxu) estudiaron con el creador del estilo, Dong Haichuan (1796-1882). Esto resalta la importancia de este encuentro y de esta película que se corresponde con lo más preciado de la genealogía del Baguazhang.
