The undercut sucks so bad as a hairstyle because for it to look good, and needs a gradual transition. The problem is when you just shave one length, it goes flat. It needs to blend and transition. Sideburns. If you're cutting off your sideburns, your hair sucks. Your sideburns help to frame your face and finish your hairstyle. That is, unless you're doing a bald skin fade. DIY haircut. If you are cutting your hair, it's probably all jacked up. You are not a trained hair stylist or barber. You need to go to a professional. Go to a barber if you want a fade or blending. Visit a stylist if you're looking for texture, dimension, and separation. Stylists also are much better for longer styles and if you want more texture, life, and volume. Honesty. You need to be honest about your hairstyle, texture, and density. You need to pick a hairstyle that fits your type of hair. Don't try to do something your hair isn't supposed to do. Also, make sure your hairstyle fits your face shape. Wrong style. Find a style that works for your face shape. It's all about contrast and balance. Look for the opposite. If you have a round face, look for a style with angles and structure. If you have a square face, look for a softer style. Cheap products. Do not use products from the drugstore or grocery store, as these products do not have the best ingredients. They are cheap for a reason. They will typically have a lot of sulfates, parabens, and alcohol, which will damage and dry your hair. Upgrade the quality of hair products and hair dryer. Cheap hair dryer. You need to ensure your hair dryer is high quality so it will not damage, strip moisture, or burn your hair. Dyson was my first high-end hair dryer, and it was super expensive. It's either going to clean, or it will condition. Upgrade the quality of your shampoo and conditioner. Not conditioning. Every guy needs to condition at least twice a week. Conditioning will make your hair stronger, healthier, smoother, and less dry. Irregular schedule. You must have your haircut regularly to keep your style. Do not let it grow over your ears or neck because it's too late at that point. You've already destroyed your hair's image. Set up appointments regularly. Short hair should be cut every three (3) weeks, but if it's a bit longer, you could get away with going 4 to 6 weeks for a trim or touch-up. Losing it. Unfortunately, hair loss happens to many men. Don't try to hide or camouflage it. Do something about it. If you want to go bald, that's no problem. But if you want to try minoxidil or oral medications to regrow your hair, that's an option. Tiny top knot. A tiny top knot combined with an undercut looks horrible. Let your hair grow, but not just the crown. Have a modern and sexy long style that you can rock. Wrong products. Hairstyling products are geared toward different textures, densities, and styles. Use the correct product for the correct hairstyle. You need to determine which product is best suited for you. Play around and experiment, but don't use too much. Too much. Less is more when it comes to hair products. If you use a proper pre-styler, you won't need as much product for your hair to perform and look great. The current trend is longer, natural-looking hair. Gone are the days of super tight, rigid styles that look like helmets. Embrace your natural texture, but make it look natural by choosing the right product.
