@How to program timer SS5C70 LR3730 52-8843-2 (Intermatic Canadian Tire)
I'm going to show you how to program one of these timers, so if you don't have one, get out of here right NOW before you get bored to death. This timer is known as an Intermatic SS5C70 and was sold through Canadian tire as a MasterCraft LR3730 with the CT part number 52-8843-2. I couldn't find a manual for it or instructions anywhere, so I played with it until I found a way to set it. It's unusual in that it has only ONE button, and a slide switch to set it. I found that the only way to get it into setting mode was to turn it off and start from scratch. Turn it on, and the clock flashes 8:00am. Push and hold the button until it shows nearly your current time. The counting accelerates as you keep the button held down. Press again to get closer to the current time, always hold the button down until counting starts. Note that the AM and colon are flashing during this time. When the correct time is shown, give a momentary press (defined as releasing it before it starts counting). This sets the time and exits setting mode; the AM and colon stop flashing. Now slide over to programming mode. You're going to set ON/OFF times through the day starting with the first ON time after 8:00am. The display shows 8:00am flashing, with the ON indicated. Use the same process to set the first ON time, taking care not to give a momentary press until the ON time is correct. This is a confusing element of this particular timer, because the convention for other devices seems to be that a momentary press can increment your count by one. Not so here... a momentary press stores the time set, and continues to the next function. I was really lucky here, I hit my 6:30 first shot, I press quickly and it confirms the setting for a moment, then starts flashing again to set the first OFF time. Note that setting continues from the previous time, NOT from 8:00am. Also note that the OFF indication is flashing now. Use the same procedure again to set the OFF time. I was aiming for 10:30pm, it overshot but I don't care for one minute. Remember to press the button momentarily when you're done; at this point, it's ready to accept a second ON time for the day, but I don't need a second one so I'm finished. The last setting shown, for which you did not press the button momentarily does NOT get saved. Slide the switch to AUTO, and the timer setting is done. You can check the timer settings by pressing the button momentarily THREE times. It shows the ON/OFF times through the day, and then reverts to the clock. Pressing the button once in manual mode switches the output and the timer settings are disabled; pressing the button in AUTO mode also switches the output, but only until the next timer setting takes over again.
