Speed of Light: In a vacuum, light travels at a constant speed of approximately 299,792 kilometers per second (km/s) or about 186,282 miles per second (mi/s). Spectrum: Light consists of a spectrum of colors, which can be seen when white light is dispersed through a prism. This spectrum includes colors like red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet (ROYGBIV). Wavelength: Each color of light has a specific wavelength, with red having the longest wavelength and violet having the shortest. Wavelength is the distance between two successive peaks (or troughs) of a wave. Frequency: The frequency of light is inversely proportional to its wavelength. This means that colors with shorter wavelengths have higher frequencies, and vice versa. Reflection: Light can bounce off surfaces, a phenomenon known as reflection. The angle at which light hits a surface is equal to the angle at which it reflects. Refraction: When light passes from one medium to another (e.g., from air to water), its speed changes, causing it to bend. This bending of light is known as refraction.
