Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The following is the resolution of the Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea on the revision of the rules of the WPK adopted on Sept. 28: The rules of the WPK have basic norms of the party to successfully carry forward and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche started by President Kim Il Sung by applying its great exploits and experience to its building and activities, thoroughly establishing the monolithic ideology and leadership in the party, firmly building the party ranks organizationally and ideologically and increasing its militancy and leadership function. The party rules revised and supplemented at the 6th Congress of the WPK have played a great role in achieving its single-minded unity and strengthening and developing it into powerful militant ranks with a high degree of organization and discipline and successfully providing the party's leadership over the struggle to defend and glorify socialism centered on the popular masses under the tested and experienced leadership of Kim Jong Il. The present reality in which a historic turn is taking place in carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche, the Songun revolutionary cause, calls for revising the party rules so that the WPK, organizer and guide of all victories of the Korean people, may be strengthened in every way and its leadership role be further increased. The proposal for revising the rules of the WPK presented to the Conference newly reflected the need to hold Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the eternal leader of the WPK and the revolution and the immortal exploits performed by Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in founding and strengthening and developing it and newly stipulated the formation of the WPK's highest leadership body and its position and role as required by the characteristic features of the party as an organizational and ideological integral whole centered on Kim Jong Il. The duties of a party member and the contents of the work of party organizations at different levels are comprehensively revised and supplemented in the above-said proposal as required by the new era of the Juche-based revolution. New chapters "The Party and the People's Power" and "The Party Logo and Flag of the Party" are added to the party rules and the need to strengthen the party's leadership over the people's power and the youth league and enhance the role of party organizations in the People's Army is supplemented to them to meet the above-said requirement. The Conference decided to adopt the proposal for revising the party rules as the rules of the WPK, convinced that the proposal will provide a sure guarantee for strengthening and developing the party into an eternal glorious party of Comrade Kim Il Sung and victoriously advancing the revolutionary cause of Juche, the cause of building a thriving socialist nation by more thoroughly ensuring the unitary leadership of Kim Jong Il over the whole party and society.
