Ben Geeves's video: The Beach Boys - God Only Knows 2022 Synth Vangelis Mix - Ana de Armas Tribute - Blade Runner 2049

@The Beach Boys - God Only Knows (2022 Synth/Vangelis Mix) - Ana de Armas Tribute - Blade Runner 2049
Using Carl Wilson's original vocals, I tried to make something futuristic sounding (I'm using a Korg 01, Access Virus KC and Roland 2080). It was tricky to recreate the two clarinet riffs that play just after Carl sings "World would show nothing to me" and just after "What good could living do me" (After a million times listening to the original I think I got them about right). Also, I had to up the pitch of the vocals at certain points to keep them in tune, especially at the end when all their other voices are layered together. I read on the wiki the Beach Boys used 'unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways', maybe they multi-layered voices together for this song and which affected pitch a little each time. I found the Joi and K side story in Blade Runner 2049 really interesting and felt a great loss when her emanator was destroyed. The ending of my video is a bit tragic I feel, with her banging on the window. I tried to change things for a slightly more upbeat ending but nothing worked quite as well as the tragic one, sorry Joi... Thanks for watching!
