"THE BOISTEROUS BIRDS OF CHRISTMAS EVE" comes from Big Stick's very first ever Christmas themed release, their "SAUCED UP SANTA" mini-LP. "THE BOISTEROUS BIRDS OF CHRISTMAS EVE" is a spoken short story. Big Stick's John Gill wrote and recites the tale of a bevy of birds, including a Christmas caroling mockingbird named Peter, who all assemble together at a Grand Fir Tree that the birds decorated on Christmas Eve. They perform holiday songs, with Peter taking the lead, while the other birds do their part to tweet, chirp, and provide harmonizing accompaniment to Peter's singing. They engage in their own unique and exuberant party of Christmas merriment. The local townspeople, who are busy ice skating on a nearby frozen pond, hear the birds, and then see them singing in the decorated tree. The townspeople's souls are moved by the natural beauty and enchanting spectacle of sight and sound, so much so that they all join in, singing along with the birds in boisterous song. This results in a genuinely gala gathering of precious birds of nature and humankind, united in an emotionally uplifting singalong, raising their collective spirits together with wondrous and festive fascination and holiday cheer. The "SAUCED UP SANTA" mini-LP also includes two versions of the "SAUCED UP SANTA" title track, a regular and extended version. "SAUCED UP SANTA" tells a true story from John Gill's childhood, when he sat on the lap of an intoxicated shopping mall Santa Claus. The song isn't a derogatory diss of the inebriated Santa, rather, it expresses grace, forgiveness and humility, what the season is really all about. Yanna Trance conducts the children's choir on "SAUCED UP SANTA"... "CHRISTMAS ISLAND" is also featured on the mini-LP. It tells the sibylline tale of when children drift off to sleep and their subconscious minds metaphysically transport them to a gleeful Christmassy place of salutary peace, benevolent charity and good will for all.
