Some people are worried about flying. I wrote a (Swedish) book about how to overcome this together with psychologist Cecilia Gustafsson, some time ago. You can be troubled if you don’t understand what’s happening with the plane when it's affected by turbulence. The atmosphere is constantly moving around the earth, as I show in this video. This creates waves, just like wind makes waves on the ocean. But since air is invisible, you can seldom see the waves. It's a matter of comfort only. The reason for you to sit down and fasten the seatbelts in turbulence is that we don’t want you to bump into something, walking around in the cabin.The wings will NOT break because they are flexible. The human creativity/imagination is a heritage from thousand years of evolution. It helped us survive when there were wild animals and hostile foreigners. Flying is extremely safe but this fact is in the logical part of the brain. The fantasies comes from another part and can not be talked away easily. They brain can however be reprogrammed by flying more, so you learn that something bad actually does not happen. it also helps to know how our brain works and to get rid of misunderstandings. There’s is absolutely NO drama in flying and it’s always safety first!
