《男子汉》迪士尼花木兰 粉丝出品 I fixed Mulan 2020 by fanediting the Chinese version of, "I'll Make a Man Out of You," into the movie. This is the version sung by Jackie Chan in Mandarin,《男子汉》Nánzǐhàn. This is a complete edit that fully integrates the live-action movie with the original song and shows what Mulan remake training scene could have looked like. Changes include: - using the Chinese audio of the movie to match the song - introducing a complete training arc where Mulan struggles leading to a more satisfying emotional journey. Mulan fails in training several times, she trains harder then everyone else by training at night, and after being told to, "Pack up, go home," she redoubles her efforts and surpasses her fellow soldiers. - having Commander Tung "sing" the song like Shang - adding and adjusting numerous foley sound effects to emphasize the new edit (even small details like adding a sound effect for Mulan hitting her foot in her taiji jump front slap, or adding cloth and wind sound effects for Commander Tung's taiji demo) - combining footage from the HDR version of Mulan and AI upscaled footage in 4K for the best picture quality. - retranslating the Chinese lyrics to English (since the lyrics are different in Chinese) Translation Notes - The Chinese version is filled with pretty advanced vocabulary and every lyric has a literal meaning and an analogy/additional connotation. Much of that doesn't translate back to English very well unless you start to become very loose with the translation - 男子汉, "Nánzǐhàn," is what's used in the Chinese song for the English chorus of, "Be a man." The literal translation of this is manly man. But manly in Chinese has a pretty different connotation than in English. In English manly has two connotations, one of being muscle-bound and doing overly masculine things, the other around being responsible to your duties, and doing what must be done, no matter the cost. This second connotation is exclusively what being a man, and manly, is seen as in Chinese, and what the song is relaying. #男子汉 #花木兰
