Sams Meats, 1209 W. Locust St., Wilmington, began as a dream of the Sams family in 2001 when Kenny Seeger of Seeger Meats decided to sell his business. Sherri Sams Collett had worked at Seeger's for five years beginning as a teenager, but as time grew closer for her to graduate from Wilmington College with a degree in mathematics she considered the idea of being her own boss, a hometown business owner. She took her idea to her parents, Alan and Rona Kay, who shared her desire to own their own local business. Today, Sams Meats is a family affair as Sherri, Alan and Rona Kay along with Sherri's siblings, Ridge and Heather, serve the local community with outstanding products and one-of-a-kind personal service.
