On March 5, Mike and Kym Prell, owners of the Peaceful Acres Lavender Farm, set out on a new adventure with the goal of changing lives within the community. The Wellness Studio by Peaceful Acres — Holistic Care Source, located in downtown Wilmington at 14 N. South St., opened as a dream that the Prells had contemplated several years ago while living in Cincinnati. The foundation of the Wellness Studio began as a muse for the Prell family in 2005 when Mike Prell, on a service call in Clinton County for his work, drove through the Martinsville area and saw a parcel of land for sale. Living in the city all his life, Mike was struck by the beauty of the acreage, so much so that he brought his wife Kym to see the property. The couple fell in love with the area and eventually purchased the land and moved from Cincinnati to the country with an aspiration in mind. Their goal for the property was to develop a truly unique concept for the functioning of the land and to help people in some way. The decision to plant and cultivate lavender was brought about by the uniqueness and benefits of the plant. It was during the development of the lavender farm that the Prells began considering that they wanted to extend their outreach to the community by opening a wellness studio.
