The group is now an independent band. They founded their own label SB4 Music Group on 2003. Son by Four was created by Panamanian producer & songwriter Omar Alfanno & integrated by Ángel López, Pedro Quiles & brothers Javier Montes & George Montes. "A Puro Dolor" is a Spanish song recorded by Son by Four. It was written by Omar Alfanno & released as the first single of the second studio album of the band in 1999. Two versions of the track were produced by Oscar Llord for the album, one as a salsa & the other as a ballad. The ballad version was arranged by Alejandro Jaén. The song reached number one on Billboard Top Latin Songs chart & became the longest running chart topper of its history at the time, spending 20 weeks at the top. "A Puro Dolor" also reached the Billboard 100. This led to the recording of an English version of the track "Purest of Pain", which was also charted in the United States.
