Want some cheap interior staircase design ideas? This interior stair railing has been designed with soffit vent "spindles" with a cedar frame. Usually, soffit vent is installed for the purpose of allowing airflow to an attic from under the roof. They give this kitchen stair railing a unique look. The repurposing of the soffit vent here seems to be as strong as any other spindle would be, and they are less than 3 inches apart. Installing them close together like this increases the strength and durability of the railing. Something to consider if you’ve got a bunch of soffit vent laying around.
