Class 25 locomotive Tamworth Castle was withdrawn from service and in a very poor state. An old school friend and some others from Neville Hill depot in Leeds managed to obtain the locomotive and move it to Holbeck where it was to be used for apprentice fitters to train on, they began to obtain missing parts and then sought permission to fully restore her for use on the main line, this was approved and after a repaint into two tone green and new cast nameplates had been applied Tamworth Castle made a return to main line operation, and used on several charter trains which were very popular. Sadly today no longer active in a poor condition on a heritage railway but at least not scrapped like most of the others and will hopefully run again one day although not on the main line. Unless....
