In this video I'm going to show how to make direct AC 230V electric fence charger circuit. This circuit works directly on 220V or 230V AC, it can be adjust to work on 110V or 120V AC. This simple DIAC controlled circuit is most known and finds various industrial applications. It flashes once every second to give a high voltage on flyback or car ignition coil and is simple to design. The project can be wired lead-to-lead without using PCB. It is directly powered from 230V AC and can be enclosed in the mains box. Mains 230V AC is rectified by D2. Capacitor C1 (47µF, 400V) charges through diode D2 and resistor R1. Capacitor C2 (1µF, 400V) charges through diode D2 and resistors R3, R4 which reduces the flow of current to the diac and hence the triac remains non-conducting. After capacitor C2 is fully charged, the voltage across the diac rises and it conducts. This provides gate current to the triac. The triac fires and completes the circuit. When the diac conducts, capacitor C2 discharges through the diac. This reduces the gate current of the triac and it switches off. Also capacitor C1 is discharging when triac is on. Thus the charging-discharging cycle of capacitor C2 determines the frequency rate of the transformer. Resistors R1 and R2 can be lower resistance, from 1k to 5k, it will change frequency of circuit.
