After losing all their games during Euro 88, England begin to plan for the future with a friendly win in September 1988 against a Denmark side who had also failed to score a point at the finals. Neil Webb nets the winner at a sparse Wembley, on a night when Paul Gascoigne begins his eventful England career as a late substitute (note his name being spelt wrong on the caption broadcast at the time!). Des Walker also makes his debut as a sub and will soon become a regular, while the late David Rocastle earns his first full cap and Mick Harford features for the second and final time for England.
