Despite hitting the woodwork three times in the first-half, England fail to break the deadlock and are held to a goalless friendly draw in wet conditions away to Israel in February 1988. England go into the game having scored 12 times in their last two matches against Turkey and Yugoslavia, but this match marks the start of a disappointing year in which their goalscoring touch will frequently desert them. At the other end Israel have an excellent goal disallowed, as they improve on their 2-1 defeat when the sides previously met two years earlier.
