Hey, just an upload for /r/trains. :D I visited Japan last September, and during our rides with the Shinkansen we noticed "something purple" flying by on two occasions. In Himeji we noticed then a large poster about this train, and being a long-time anime fan I decided to look up the timetable of this train and intercept it. We did this in Shin-Kobe, then. :) This is a Type 500 Shinkansen which is painted in the livery of EVA Shogoki, a giant robot from the famous anime (movie) series Neon Genesis Evangelion.
