Performing "U Got It (Goin' On)" on a Dallas cable access talent show, all the way back LIVE STRAIGHT OUTTA OAKCLIFF IN 1997 IN THE MIX!!!! This clip has it all... A shitty microphone that barely works, a drunk student working the lights for the first time at the studios, contrast that keeps flickering on and off, a cameraman who seems like he barely knows what he's doing turning off the camera (or falling asleep) before the song ends, ultra shitty sound with distortion a'plenty.. PERFECT!! The sultry silk and seductively slick vocal stylings of D'LAN burst through the audio distortion, and this tune will make the ladiez swoon, and the fellas groove like macks.. I originally uploaded this mellow joint back in 2009ish, and while it never caught fire, a certain artist sure found it interesting. "Lord SMS" or "LAMPGOD, **Ł_RD//$M$" liked it so much, he swiped the audio from the video, and reposted it as "**$EXT8PE_INTRO??" and placed it onto his album entitled "??Lampgod??**Ł_Rd//$M$??**$$Ext8pe??" without any remixing, no additions, just a straight swipe, and posted that to streaming sites.... The D'Lan bit was stolen from television anyway.... AND I think the album "Lampgod/Lord SMS" used this track on is fantastic.. Very clever and the type of shit that I do anyway.... BUT, the problem is that, because "Lampgod/Lord SMS" posted the audio on streaming sites, systems now credit HIM with the authorship of the audio, and now THIS fucking video now has "copyright" tags (when it was ME who found this and posted it in the first place LONG BEFORE HIS SONG WAS UPLOADED!) AND, when I released this bit on audio streaming sites as part of the "Cringevision: Kitschy Klassix" album, guess what happened!?? The system credited that fucking "Lord SMS" as the author of the song, which caused many problems... Which is fine since I've barely started doing the streaming thing, only started uploading my entire self-made discography & audio works to platforms only a few months ago... But dude didn't even CHANGE anything, just a straight rip..... But enough bitching.. Let's get back to the reason we're all here; D'LAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! So this awful performance aired on TCI Cablevision Public Access, where every two weeks, there would be a "local talent showcase" programs, typically terrible.... I would skim the channels, and if I saw something that looked funny or embarrassing, I'd quickly hit record, and capture the magic! For this clip, I started recording after the artist into was over, so I have no clue what his name really was. But, this guy will forever be known as "D'Lan"... Seems like D'Lan was so passionate about his music, he wanted to get on television and flow no matter what, can't let bothering to learn how to produce television spoil tha' flow.... At TCI, the only way you could book a studio to film a public access show is if you took several classes first. One was camera operation, one was sound mixing.. Once you went through each level, then you would get your certification to use the studio for your own program.. This is why so many DFW cable access had technical difficulties (many many posted on this channel)... They were all produced by total amateurs/students I took (most of) the classes there, and usually, the other students were either sleeping, talking to themselves during the lessons, or obviously drunk. "I don't need to learn this shit dawg, I just wanna make a show.. nuff!" Well, the lesson here is that, if you don't pay attention in class, your show turns out like this! A barely audible, barely watchable program.. And from the looks of this gem, the people producing were too stoned to pay attention in class, and this horrid piece of garbage was the result.. Remember kids, stay off drugs and stay in school!!!
