Recently there has been a lot of furor in the media about the event,particularly from some Macaque journalists who obviously must have been born and raised in some cave in the deep jungles of Pahang or Perak. Now the car is for the CM of Penang,not LGE.Also the expenditure is from the income of Penang State which has not milked its people to enjoy the benefits.Contrast it with some who collect Federal taxes, cut subsidies,collaborate with their supporters to increase tolls,tariffs etc.to enrich themselves further, or raise assessments to create contracts to benefit their supporters.Penang like Selangor is prudently managed in comparison and has enough left to reward its staff with reasonable perks like quality cars that are safe and cheap to maintain,unlike the "protected" cars that cost more to maintain than buy, or that can be quashed by a Kapchai Just as a well managed company can reward its staff by giving good bonuses,good governments like in Singapore should reward its good staff,with some good benefits if they can afford it,otherwise corruption is the result. It is not acceptable when a badly managed government screws up the economy but bleeds the people while its rich executives still enjoy life in the fast lane. What do you expect LGE to do, ride around in a trishaw and tell the people that he has mismanaged PP and people should follow his good example,live in poverty and ride around in trishaws like in the 50s? Or tell the people to revert to Communism with eyes running red everytime they see people rich and prosperous even though they got rich by legitimate means?It is a political show of strength,image building,or do you want politicians to flaunt their weaknesses? Dont you think it is important for Penang to promote itself as a rich prosperous state instead of a poor,corrupt and backward one loaded with montrous baggage? It is childish and immature to jump the gun and accuse people of vanity,corruption,temptation etc. without looking in detail or seeing the big picture.With journalism like that thank whatever God we pray to that there is a social media. My advice before writing such crap,go back to school or get an education, a genuine one that is. A very ancient wise man once said " Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day,teach him how to fish and he will eat for life". In a modern progressive nation,people should not expect hand-outs or aid from governments as of right,Governments do best by creating the infrastructure,climate and facilities for its people to take advantage of the opportunities.Look how Communist countries have evolved into great capitalist ones. Next we'll be bombarded with articles like LGE eats in fancy hotel or restaurant instead of eating Hokkien mee by the roadside beside the filthy public toilet, Poor Malaysians,their govenment has so severely discriminated against them and their business community exploited them,so much so that they regard a Mercedez as a Boeing 747.They have become so stingy,small hearted, localised,cheapskate and mean as to deny even their leader using a Mercedez secured at a cheap sale as his official car.Next, they will lose all their dignity and face and start leaving in droves to richer places like China to work as the new Filipino maids. Deng Xiao Peng once declared to Chinese :' To be rich is glorious.' In the case of these localised brainwashed Chinese their motto is "poverty is glorious". In most places this item wouldn't even make the news.
