cuckoo bird's video: Peach Blossom takes the Ferry Tao Hua Guo Ta Du - Hokkien Song

@Peach Blossom takes the Ferry (桃花搭渡) (Tao Hua Guo/Ta Du) - Hokkien Song
Heard this song played on radio when I was a toddler. At first I thought they were singing about Roti Canai or about the Lotus flower. Now looking at this silly KOK made in Malaysia I am still blur as to what the song is all about, with a story being unfolded over 12 months Is this a Minnan folk song from Fujian, or a Taiwanese song.Teochew opera or Malayan/Singaporean song? This version though is more enlightening : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeqCuRXLZDM Does anyone know the origin of this folk song? There are even other regional versions and even operas with the same name. There is even a copyright claim to the song,on a traditional folk song too? According to some of the blogs, the song is about a boatman teasing and challenging a lady passenger to a singing contest of exchanging verses over 12 rounds,if the lady wins the contest she gets a free passage and if the boatman wins,he gets to marry her. Apparently at the end the lady Peach Blossom outwits and outperforms the boatman and earns herself a free ride across the river. That must be one of the courtship rituals in ancient times.
