Valea Perjei este un sat din raionul Taraclia cu o majoritate a de 76% din populație de bulgari. Satul Valea Perjei a fost întemeiat în anul 1816 de un grup de colonişti bulgari veniți de la sud de Dunăre. Tradiția locală susține că pe vremuri aici erau multe livezi cu prune, plantate într-o vale, iar de aici şi denumirea localităţii. Țăranii din acest sat au fondat ceva mai la nord, la finele secolului al XIX-lea un alt sat, pe care l-au numit tot Valea Perjei, azi în raionul Cimișlia.
