Language Tip: "คุณ" is pronounced as "khun". You may hear "Khun" before the name "Jun", but the reason I keep "Khun" in the subtitles is that "Khun" doesn't literally mean "Mr" or "Miss" in English. It not only has the function of addressing people with their first name, but also acts as the pronoun "you". For example, "Mr Peter Smith" would be addressed as "Khun Peter". But by simply saying "Khun" without "Peter", it refers to you (Mr Smith). Other than these two functions, "Khun" shows politeness when Thai people use to call somebody "you". In other words, "Khun" means "you who I respect (and I'm being polite to call you with this word)". The Star Beside The Moon ดาวเคียงเดือน (Dao Kiang Duen) The story is that Jun (literally means "moon" in Thai), a prince who comes from a very upper-class family, met a girl Dao (literally means "star" in Thai) from a working-class community when he went down to check the progress of a project himself at a small firm his corporation hired. He pretended to be an employee and cheated Dao. An appearance of Jun's mom made Dao know he's the CEO of the corporation her company was working for, so she was angry with Jun and told him she would never want to see him again. But Jun had already taken interest in this girl who's always direct and shows her real self, unlike other women around him. Hence, he offered her triple salary and additional employee welfare, plus other luxury goods, just to ask her to be his personal assistant and secretary. She refused to accept the offer as she knew to do the job, she would have to deal with some upper social class people, who always put on a facade mask, beside him and would hardly be happy. He didn't give up though. He went to the firm she's working and made a check of one billion bahts out to her boss in exchange for a two-year contract of Dao. She still refused. Until Jun rescued Dao from being hurt by a gang of greasers and got himself hurt, she started to consider the offer. However, on the first day of her work, she met Jun's picky and demanding mom, who doesn't like lower-class people. So, Jun lied to his mom saying that Dao was a lesbian ("tom" is used in the show). On one hand, Dao had to act as a lesbian; on the other hand, she had to play the role "mistress" of Jun to help him get rid of a crazily fascinated woman. The funny part is she had to be both "perfect and sexy woman" and "tom". Please watch the show to see how she played the two distinctive roles. In the meantime, she misunderstood that Jun's a gay, who's attracted to his male secretary Vivid. But Vivid already fell in love with Dao's friend Ying Fa, who comes from the same social class as Jun. Her misunderstanding also led Ying Fa to believe that Vivid is not straight so she was broken-hearted and left him preparing to go to America. After he got drunk, he trespassed her mansion and found her in the bathroom. He tried to explain but she wouldn't listen. While he held her tightly, she was pushing him away. Accidentally, they fell down into a bathtub. Vivid embraced her firmly not letting her go. She finally listened to his explanation and knew that Jun loves Dao and intentionally wanted her to misunderstand him to see if she had feeling for him...... Although Jun's family live in a huge and flashy mansion, he himself rents a condo just next to the one Dao's friend tentatively let her stay while leaving on a business trip to other country. If Dao thinks Jun's gay, she can't love him. That's why Jun's worried and couldn't wait to tell her he's heterosexual.
