This is an 8.4 round trip hike (2,000' elevation gain) to Nellie Lake in the Kaiser Wilderness of the Sierra National Forest. The trail was closed for quite some time b/c of the Creek Fire and its aftermath. There is about 2 miles of burned forest for the first 2 miles outbound. The trail can be a bit hard to follow through this section. Take insect repellent. Hike early in the day if possible. The Nellie Lake area was untouched by the fire.
