djazz's video: Steam Remote Play with Red Dead Redemption 2 display latency test GPU passthrough

This video shows what it's like playing RDR2 with the Steam Link app. Gameplay starts at 2:05. Some gunshots at 3:05. This game does currently not run in Wine/Proton. Steam Link stuttering and bad latency while game is loading, gets better while in-game. In this video, only display latency (see stat in video) is compared. Upper half is recorded with HDMI capture. The lower half is recorded on an iPad using iPadOS built-in screen recording feature. Audio is from the iPad recording. Note that quality is degraded through recording and encoding, it looks better on the device. I use a Windows 10 VM running with vfio gpu-passthrough and QEMU (libvirt managed). The VM is setup to use a NAT network so, Steam Link traffic goes through Valve's network (see the ping in stats). The latency is even lower when on LAN (multicast) but I want to show what it's like playing "remotely". Keep in mind that the ping to Valve's network vary depending on location and distance to host. I use GloSC to get controller support over Steam Link. Using Steam Link with the game directly prevents the game from launching (black screen, then crash). The GloSC overlay does not work while the game is in fullscreen/borderless fullscreen, so an alt-tab is required to see it.
