Studio 31 Media Archive's video: WFXR News First at Ten Full 1 29 2021 New Graphics

Complete 10pm newscast from Roanoke/Lynchburg/Danville/Bedford/the New River Valley's Fox affiliate. WFXR is owned by Nexstar. This is the second night with their new graphics, the group's ABC package, though the design is the only one of the four network-specific Linear Drift-designed packages not to be designed around the network's logo, making it easy enough to be used on affiliates of other networks unlike the others. WFXR is the first Fox affiliate to use this design. CBS affiliate KGPE and CW affiliate KIAH also use this look. I went into detail about the station on the 6:30 newscast I posted, so I'll spare that here. I'll just say that compared to the first night, the second night went much more smoother, and they had a lot of the kinks ironed out. So let's take a look at a typical 10pm newscast from Fox 21/27 in Roanoke, Virginia. Unlike the 6:30 show which uses a talent bump as an open, the 10pm doesn't have a talent rejoin at all (this was the case with the old graphics as well). They also had two meteorologists working this night, I don't know why. It didn't seem like both were needed there since they were both just taking turns with forecasting. It's not like John couldn't have done that by himself without Kara there. And in this age of COVID exposure, the less people in the building, the better. If they insisted on having two mets you couldn't at least have had one from home? Same with the co-anchors and sports guy. Do we really need everyone at the station? I get having one anchor and one met there in case issues come up with the at home setup, but there's no excuse to have everyone there, even with social distancing. Anchored by Len Stevens, Kathlynn Stone, chief meteorologist John Carroll, meteorologist Kara Thompson, and sports director Jermaine Ferrell.
