Studio 31 Media Archive's video: WFXR News Good Day Virginia Open 1 29 2021 New Graphics

Open from the 5am newscast on Nexstar's Fox affiliate (WFXR 27/WWCW 21.2) serving Roanoke, Virginia, as well as Lynchburg, Danville, Bedford and the New River Valley. This is from their second day with their new graphics and modified logo, a look from Linear Drift originally designed for WSYR in Syracuse and mostly used by many of the company's ABC affiliates (such as KTVX in Utah). However CBS affiliate KGPE and CW affiliate KIAH utilize this look as well. WFXR becomes the first Fox affiliate to use it. WFXR launched last night at 6:30pm (I have that show and will post it soon, but could not record the 10pm show as I wasn't home, so I'll try for that tonight or tomorrow). This gives WFXR a new look for the first time in over five years (they launched the news department in 2015 with their now old look, which began at WFXR only made it to five stations total: KMID, WZDX, WDVM and KCAU in addition to WFXR). WFXR also modified their logo. It is upright now instead of at an angle but otherwise the same base design and font. I think the ABC look (unaware of internal name for this pack) fits WFXR very well, much better than the FOX look would have. There is no change to the music or voiceover (Mark Peeples). They mainly use Extreme from Stephen Arnold as their music, however Good Day Virginia uses a version of SAM's "Waking Up My Day" for its opens and image campaigns for the show. Unlike the old version of the open (which I uploaded a couple of weeks ago), this one features the full version of the song with no voiceover. Good Day Virginia also got a new logo (vast improvement over the old one). Thanks to our source for tipping us off to this launch (they know who they are)!
