Studio 31 Media Archive's video: WFAA News at 6:00 Full 2 1 2022 New Set

@WFAA News at 6:00 (Full), 2/1/2022 (New Set)
Full length 6pm newscast taken from the TEGNA-owned ABC affiliate serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. This was on the first day utilizing their new set (more like old, it was physically moved from the Victory Park site with additional elements added on in the larger space at Young Street). Requested by Jacob. The set itself is nice, but like I said, it's literally an expanded and slightly updated version of what they had at Victory Park. If they didn't ever tell you they were moving, you would literally think this is the same set. It isn't terrible, but the station really oversold the new studio. The station is back to originating all of its newscasts full-time at its main facility on Young Street after opting, at the end of 2021, to decline renewal of the Victory Park lease it had held since 2007. The space there literally was very small and had enough space for a studio and a restroom, with nothing else. Talent would work from the newsroom at Young Street then drive to Victory Park to anchor the newscasts, although the former main studio set at Young, which hadn't been updated significantly since around 2004, was still used as a standby studio. The control room was still at Young Street all of these years. So the move just brings everything under one roof once again and has to make things easier for everyone, and it saves TEGNA some money ahead of a likely sale to Standard General. While I once respected WFAA, the use of a pop song to introduce the set on a 6pm newscast is highly inappropriate in my opinion and is a prime example of the fall of this once mighty station. BELO would have never let this happen and would have continued to respect the viewers' intelligence. WFAA regularly places third or fourth in the market's ratings under TEGNA. The graphics and mix of production music and C Clarity remain unchanged. The station's voiceover artists are presently David Kaye and Doc Morgan, with Morgan being relegated to sponsor bumps and Kaye as the main station voice. Anchored by Cynthia Izaguirre, Chris Lawrence, chief meteorologist Pete Delkus, and sports director Joe Trahan. Includes reports from Alex Rozier, Ariel Plasencia, and Ariane Datil (TEGNA-mandated corporate segment). Commercials were edited out, station promos have been retained. Select sports highlights have been blacked out due to copyright restrictions. ©2022 TEGNA Media and WFAA-TV, no copyright infringement intended. For educational and historical purposes only.
