Complete 6pm newscast from the Gray-owned NBC affiliate serving the nation's second-smallest television market: North Platte, Nebraska. Gray has a near-monopoly on television in this market, with CBS, Fox, MyNetwork and The CW also on stations of theirs. The only outlier is ABC, which is provided in-market via a low-power repeater of Sinclair's NTV out of Kearney. Recorded on Monday, December 27, 2021. This is a very typical Gray small market newscast: their usual graphics package with 3D and lens flares that 2007 would be proud of, content that is all over the place, minimal staff, and plenty of technical difficulties. It is market 209 so I will cut them a little bit of slack, but some of the mistakes here are so basic, they should be inexcusable no matter the market size. This is also the only television newscast in the market. I have no clue who the voiceover is, but he is used by all of the Gray stations in Nebraska (they all share a common general manager who is based at KOLN/KGIN in Lincoln, and yes, they use him too). The music is The NBC Collection from Gari Music (although a credit is given at the end to Warner/Chappell Production Music, who did buy out Gari a few years ago, but they are only responsible for licensing these days, they didn't compose any of what you hear here). A report from CBS News was edited out due to copyright issues (don't ask why an NBC affiliate aired a report from CBS), but I left in the sigout from the reporter so you can see how they tried to dump out of the report to cover up the fact it was from CBS, but they were a little too late.
