Studio 31 Media Archive's video: KXAN News at 5:00 Open 1 19 2022 New Graphics

5pm cold news open from the Nexstar-owned NBC affiliate serving Austin, Texas. Recorded on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. KXAN launched their brand new custom package, NDC-2B, which was designed by Rey Rodriguez at Nexstar's Nashville Design Center hub today starting with the 4:30pm newscast. There was no proper open for that today. I recorded it but they dumped out of President Biden's press conference straight into news via a 2-box. KXAN usually cold opens their evening shows as it is though. This is a much needed change for them and I have no complaints about it. I think they use this look well. Yes, it is the WISH package basically with blue accents instead of red/white. The "logo box" in the open is also replaced by the NBC peacock here. Music remains the same, 360 from Stephen Arnold Music. While there's no voiceover used here, oddly enough, the station actually went back to their previous voiceover artist Allan Peck within the past month or two, ditching Steve Kamer who they began using early last year.
