News open, promos, franchise opens, and close from the 7am hour of "Local 3 News Weekend Today", the morning newscast from Sarkes Tarzian-owned NBC affiliate WRCB in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Recorded from the first morning newscast utilizing the new name and look, which aired on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Everything you see here debuted the previous day, Saturday, January 15. The station ditched the "Channel 3 Eyewitness News" name after several decades in favor of a new look, name, and logo. I'm a big fan of everything you see except the voiceover (Steve Davis), who is a major downgrade compared to Doc Morgan. They really make Inergy work well, even though the 360/Breakthrough combination fit them well too. The graphics were done by their in-house team, like the previous look. This obviously draws a lot of inspiration from TEGNA's look. They took their idea and made it a lot better to be honest. A lot of people are quick to point out that the logo looks a lot like WISC's logo, and honestly, this logo is significantly better than the crap logos and graphics the MM stations have. My only suggestion would have been to use a thicker circle. I am not surprised they went with a more modern look: the station has both a fairly young GM and news director and I feel like they both just wanted to bring a fresh, modern approach to the station. They are doing it correctly in my opinion by keeping the same, trusted familiar faces on-air while easing in younger talent, and not changing the content or format too much. It is definitely not a station for beginner talent, and it shows. WRCB is one of my absolute favorite stations in the country, let alone the market. They have good talent, I hear they are a great station to work for, the content is good, their set is nice, the graphics are perfect. I have nothing bad to say about WRCB, or shall I say, Local 3 News. Later on, I will bring a full newscast so you can see how good this station is, and how good the new look is.
