Studio 31 Media Archive's video: KPVI News Today Open 2 3 2022 New Graphics

Open for the morning newscast (5:30am block) recorded from the Cox-owned NBC affiliate serving Pocatello and Idaho Falls, Idaho. Recorded on Thursday, February 3, 2022. The new look launched on January 31st, and it's basically the same package that sister stations WFXT and WHBQ use, but of considerably worse quality. The station wanted the look without making the investments to ensure it looks great (getting the same graphics equipment as the two bigger market stations) so this is the result. The opens look the same and that's it. The lower thirds look pretty bad and use terrible fonts that don't resemble the larger market stations at all. THAT SAID, it is still a considerable improvement over what they have before, and they try their hardest to put on a newscast with virtually no staff, so I will give them props. Your only other option in the market is KIFI, who has considerably more resources and staff. For music, KPVI has kept The NBC Collection by Gari Music, but switched to newer cuts. They were unable to take Stream from Stephen Arnold due to competing station KIFI using it (that's the package WHBQ and WFXT have). Voiceover remains Eric Gordon. Anchor is Deanne Coffin with weather from Matt Davenport, who's also the news director and is usually the weeknight co-anchor.
