Studio 31 Media Archive's video: WJZY Queen City News at 10:00 Full 1 10 2022 New Brand

Complete 10pm newscast from WJZY in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Nexstar-owned Fox affiliate there. This was recorded on Monday, January 10, 2022, the first day with their new brand, Queen City News, which I've heard mixed things about from you, my amazing viewers. Also included is an open and close to the 11pm sports show that follows this, "Charlotte Sports Live". As mentioned before, they debuted this new, FX Group-designed set officially on the 4pm show earlier that day, although it has been in place for a few months now, with the station taking tight shots until the launch became official. Everything else officially launched at 4pm, with the new production music track "Older Than Modern" from the Universal Production Music library replacing Beyond from Stephen Arnold Music. The FOX-G variant of the FOX-1 graphics package (Carolina Panthers colored version of the pack) replaces the present FOX O&O package, and Beau Weaver is the station's new voiceover artist, replacing Steve Kamer who remains for now in teases and promos due to a contract, but I imagine when it's up, he's gone. The name replaces the previous "Fox 46" branding and that's also being phased out as the general station brand in favor of "Fox Charlotte", which can be seen in some promos. The launch has not exactly gone smoothly, and the Fox 46 brand can still be seen in parts, as well as the open to "Charlotte Sports Live", which did not see changes to its look. CSL is their self-containing sports program, with no sports content inside of the actual newscasts. I think their product is pretty good for what it is. As I mentioned, WSOC has gotten complacent under Cox/Apollo and their product is just stale. WBTV is pretty bad despite being number one, and WCNC is very good for being TEGNA. This has a chance to really move the needle if they try hard enough. They have hired a ton of talent and are giving resources to the station that Fox never would have, as that company tends to run their shops lean. Includes reports from Sydney Heiberger ("Northeast Bureau Chief"), Will Lewis, Lynette Romero (KTLA), Robin Kanady (one of the last remaining talent from the news operation's 2013 launch), Basil John (Nexstar DC), Jessi Turnure (Nexstar DC), Carly Moore (KDVR/KWGN), and Maureen Wurtz.
