Studio 31 Media Archive's video: KMID ABC Big 2 News at 5:00 Full 2 28 2022 New Graphics Music

@KMID ABC Big 2 News at 5:00 (Full), 2/28/2022 (New Graphics/Music)
Complete 5pm newscast from the Nexstar-owned ABC affiliate serving the Permian Basin of West Texas including Midland and Odessa. Recorded on Monday, February 28, 2022. This was the first day with their new graphics, music, and logo which launched on the morning newscast. I missed that and didn't bother to check until two minutes in to the 11:30am newscast so I ended up missing that too. KMID is utilizing the MOD-1 package first used at KOIN and also used by WKRN, KLAS, and several others. Music is now "Stream" by Stephen Arnold Music, which allows the Aerial haters that proliferate my comments to hopefully rejoice. 😂 KMID also got a (much better looking) new logo that doesn't look too different from the logo they used in their 1980s glory days when they dominated the local ratings. KMID these days rates dead last, thanks to Nexstar gutting them in the 2000s and giving up, as well as a resurgent KWES-TV (which used to be the consistent third place). There is no reference to the word "Big" in this logo, but that is still the station's branding anyway. Voiceover is still Charlie Van Dyke. I don't think it's for a lack of trying, and it certainly isn't anything resembling what Alpena puts out, but I find it appalling that there was almost zero local news in this show, aside from a brief segment looking at top stories from their website. That was the closest we got to local news. There was more Houston (on the other side of the state) content than local Basin content. I get it's a small market, and not much happens there, but you couldn't find ANYTHING local to put in this show? I can see why they are still last. Anchored by Karsen Buschjost and Madalyn Bierster, with weather from chief meteorologist Chase Menendez, and sports from Cameron Stuart. Includes reports from Brooke Taylor (KTRK), Stephanie Muniz (KOAT), Shelby Kapp (KTSM), Bianca Castro (KXAS), Tatiana Battle, Patrina Adger (KTRK), and Jane King (syndicated business segment). Commercials are edited out, promos are retained. Select sports highlight and movie trailer content throughout the show have been blacked out due to copyright issues. ©2022 Nexstar Media Inc. and KMID-TV, no copyright infringement intended.
