Studio 31 Media Archive's video: WBOY 12 News Opens 3 7-8 2022 New Graphics Set

@WBOY 12 News Opens, 3/7-8/2022 (New Graphics/Set)
Montage of opens and talent bumps, as well as a 7.25 am news update and 11pm news close, from Nexstar's dual NBC/ABC affiliate serving the Clarksburg/Fairmont/Weston, WV market. The evening shows were recorded on Monday, March 7, 2022 — the first day with their new look and set. The morning and midday shows came from the following day. Tuesday, March 8. On March 7th at 5pm (show already posted), WBOY debuted a new set which had been in the works for some time, as Nexstar is in the process of upgrading all of their West Virginia stations (except WOWK) with new sets, graphics, and updated production equipment, as well as new cameras with proper teleprompters (not a screen above the camera like previously). Accompanying the launch was a new graphics package, NDC-1, the generic version of NBC-1 which is also used by KTKA in Topeka for its exclusive non-NBC simulcast shows and by WMBD in Peoria for its 3.30pm talk show "Central Illinois Newsday" (thanks Laureno for that info!). The NBC peacock feathers are replaced with generic square-looking shapes in this package. The station opted for this package due to all of its shows also being simulcast on its ABC subchannel. The music remains the same: "Aerial" from Stephen Arnold Music. To the station's credit, they are not using the same main OG theme of the package like many stations tend to (including downstate sister station WVNS). Instead, they are sticking only with the updates, and are using a different theme on every newscast (except at 5 and 6pm — the same cut is used on both shows). Paul Turner is still the station's voiceover artist and a holdover from the West Virginia Media Holdings days (all of their stations used him for voiceovers and all but WVNS still do). As mentioned in the opens, WBOY is the market leader with WDTV rated second. WBOY, for its market size, tends to have a better quality product with less turnover (Don Graye has been there for a bit while WDTV has gone through several main anchors in the past decade) and also covers Morgantown despite it being in the Pittsburgh DMA because Nielsen logic. Stations there tend not to bother covering Morgantown as it's out of the core metro area, leaving WBOY to cover the area, which is 45 minutes away, and closer to Clarksburg than it is to Pittsburgh. Anchors include Justin McLennan, meteorologist Khalil McIver, Don Graye, and chief meteorologist Scott Sincoff. 0:00 - 12 News Today tease/open 2:07 - 12 News Today talent rejoin 3:43 - 12 News Today 7.25am Update (during "Today") 5:36 - 12 News at 12 tease/open 6:46 - 12 News at 12 talent rejoin 7:18 - 12 News at 6 tease/open 8:39 - 12 News at 6 talent rejoin 9:13 - 12 News at 11 open/tease 11:05 - 12 News at 11 talent rejoin 11:33 - 12 News at 11 close/Nexstar endtag ©2022 Nexstar Media Inc. and WBOY-TV, no copyright infringement intended.
