Studio 31 Media Archive's video: WRIC 8News at 5:00 Open 1 5 2022

Open for the 5pm newscast from Nexstar's ABC affiliate serving the Richmond/Petersburg, Virginia market. Recorded on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. They recently changed voiceover artists, going from Paul Turner to this guy. I have no idea who he is but I have heard him on other stations including KATU (no longer used there), MyTV Baltimore, WVTV CW18 Milwaukee, and WAOW in Wausau. Thanks to KHB36Guy for the tip! WRIC uses the Media General Look 12 graphics package, originally designed by Giant Octopus for sister station KOIN in Portland. Music continues to be Guardian from Stephen Arnold Music. Anchors are Deanna Allbrittin and Eric Philips, both of whom are relatively new to the station and replaced the team of Constance Jones and Juan Conde last year. Jones left for Miami while Conde left the business altogether. The constant turnover is a major reason why 8 has long been dead last in the market, although Conde had been the main anchor for about 20 years or so.
