Earlier this year, eBOSS Canada sat down with Oluniké Adeliyi and asked her 10 Questions (see list of questions below). 10 QUESTIONS 1. What was your big break? 2. What project are you most proud of? In the industry, who are the people who have been your mentors and why? ABOUT OLUNIKE ADELIYI Olunike Adeliyi was born in Toronto, Canada and raised in both St. Anne's, Jamaica and Brampton, Ontario in Canada. She got the acting bug at a very young age after being cast as the Artful Dodger in her middle school play "Oliver Twist". She studied her craft at The Canadian Academy of Method Acting and continued her studies at the Professional Actors Lab working with Canada's well-known artistic director, David Rotenberg. Oluniké also studied at the Lonsdale Smith Studio in Toronto and Los Angeles. A graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, Oluniké has performed in theaters throughout Canada and the U.S, playing leading roles in, "Blue Window", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Children's Hour", "Jitney", and Michael Cristofer's play "The Shadow Box." A multi-talented performer, she is also an accomplished dancer who has toured for major international recording artists including Shaggy, George Clinton and other renowned musicians. Her other stage performances include"The Marriage of Anansewa" starring as Anansewa and written by Efua Sutherland, "Wedding Band," by award winning playwright Alice Childress, starring as Julia Augustine and "How To Stay Sane in Paris" starring as Fatumata, written and directed by award winning director Omonike Akinyemi. In 2008, Oluniké returned to Toronto from NY to pursue her film and television career. This proved to be a smart move as within months she landed the series regular role of "Leah Kerns" in the highly rated 5 season television series, Flashpoint. Her most recent film and television appearances include SAW 3D, the highly anticipated comedy "French Immersion", "Who is Simon Miller," which aired on NBC, "The Listener" on CTV/NBC, "Combat Hospital" on Global, the Syfy original series "Being Human", "Cracked" on CBC, "Remedy" on Global, "Republic of Doyle" on CBC, the Lifetime television film "Her Husband's Betrayal", "Saving Hope" on CTV, "Lost Girl on HBO Canada, "Three Days in Havana", "The Returned" and the romantic comedy "A Wish Come True" releasing in 2015. Also coming to theatres 2015 is the anticipated thriller/horror, "Christmas Horror Story". Olunike was nominated for "Best Performance by a Female - Film" at the 2012 Canadian Comedy Awards for her performance in "French Immersion" and won the 2014 Canadian Black Awards for best actress and is recently nominated again for 2015 Olunike recently appeared as the infamous Lady Macbeth in "Macbeth" in Toronto at The Theatre Machine followed by her performance for Nightwood Theatre in "HER2" by Maja Ardal, playing at Buddies in Bad Time Theatre. Olunike is in production for the film "Group Home" and rehearsing for the Canadian original play "The Atomic Tradition", playing at Unit 102 Theatre.
