@Old vs New Original Xiaomi Yi Underwater Case - Review
Comparison of the old and new original Xiaomi Yi underwater case. More on my blog: http://www.elProducente.com New Underwater Case: http://bit.ly/1LxLMi1 Anti Fog Strips: http://bit.ly/1SODYvo Article on my blog: http://elproducente.com/post/117786878854/xiaomi-underwater-cases Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/elProducente As the new underwatercase for the Xiaomi Yi camera is out, I want to do a short review and show you the improvements that were made. It comes in the same packaging as the old version and besides the case there is also a ¼“ adapter for the GoPro mount included. First thing you will notice are the buttons. They were made out of plastic in the first batch and are now made of aluminium. There were some issues with broken buttons but as you can see, my case still works fine. The new buttons are also easy to press and now they shouldn’t break anymore. The locking mechanism is still the same and works perfectly like in the old version. The sealing was pretty good, but it seems that it is now even better as there is not the slightest gap between case and door. The new case shows shows very good results in terms of vignetting. No black spots are visible. Watch out, my camera's lens is a little shifted to the right, therefore you can see some black spots. Same Feedback after long term usage: The old version still looks pretty fine. The cracks occurred as the cam fell and that was a hard hit so the case is not to blame, that’s my fault. There is ne thing you should take care of: As you can see there is a little rust where the metal bar is placed at the bottom. I noticed that with many cases for several different cameras. So nothing I’m worried about. When using the case in saltwater make sure to put it in freshwater afterwards to clean it from salt. Let me also answer some questions you posted in the comments of the last underwater case video: Is the Original Case compatible with GoPro gear? Yes, here’s an original GoPro Quick connector and it mounts perfectly. Can I connect the original monopod from xiaomi (1/4 inch) with the 60 m case? Or do i need another adapter like it comes with the original case? Or in other words, is there an adapter from GoPro quick connector to the 1/4 thread inch monopod? Only the original case comes with a ¼“ GoPro adapter, but you can get it separately: http://bit.ly/1NCq36m There are also base plates with the quickconnector and a ¼“ thread. http://bit.ly/1F73jcB But I think this combination is not necessary as the Monopod is not waterproof, and therefore no need to put the camera in a waterproof case. If you want to use it underwater, you should get the floating grip from Xiaomi instead: http://bit.ly/1Ns9Xzy Is the Remote waterproof? No it is not, and I’m not aware that there is a case for it. I also don’t think that there will be one as I doubt that bluetooth is working underwater. I also got asked about fogging. Well, you can use the anti fog strips of course, http://bit.ly/1SODYvo, but most important: Avoid rapid change of temperature. So for example don’t leave the camera in the sun and then put it in cold water. If you have any more questions please leave a comment below. If you like this video, please subscribe to my channel.
