freebroadcasting's video: The Svalbard Global Seed Vault -- F William Engdahl

@The Svalbard Global Seed Vault -- F. William Engdahl
F. William Engdahl on the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, also known as the Doomsday Vault. This is of course the vast Arctic infrastructure built to store all seed varieties and genomes on the planet, and also structurally hardened to withstand large scale catastrophes, including a nuclear strike. While the idea of building hardened installations to store the natural genetic heritage of the planet is in itself commendable, since this may turn out to be vital in an ever more environmentally desolate world, there is however a catch, and it's the following. You have to notice that this project is bankrolled by interests who are heavily established, and heavily invested, in the current order of things, as destructive on the environment as it is. In most cases, those interests have done their utmost to push for the global spread of GMO. And, the anarchic dissemination of GM material in natural habitats we have today is, of course, one of the most environmentally destructive phenomena ever: one that threatens the irreparable contamination of natural gene pools, and may even lead to species collapse and, indeed, to ecosystem collapse. While those interests promote things that will likely lead to scenarios like these, they build the Doomsday Vault to protect against the same kind of scenarios. So, how does this insurance policy work? Is it true philanthropy, or is it more of an insurance policy you know you'll have to resort to, 'Genesis Project' style, when the dynamics you've unleashed on nature for geostrategic purposes have fully unraveled? --- This is an excerpt from a lecture that was originally posted on OpenmindconferenceDK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4qA0Ue_sI4.
