@Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure - Dragon's Peak Time Attack [8:04 ~ Sonic Boom]
The last of the Adventure Packs being covered, Dragon's Peak has some great platforming elements in here that really makes it stand firm, and is generally a thrilling level overall. Set in a draconic kingdom led by the great King Ramses and pursued by his jealous brother Vathek, this can be seen as both appealing to the younger generation while still having enough going on in the level to attract more seasoned veterans. There's a promising gimmick in here with the dragon horns; these summon Ramses's friend Flavius, whom would fly you from one island to another and thus allow brief participation in some flight segments. However, I don't know about you, but at least in the Wii version, the controls in the flight sections feel really stiff. You only move around in 4 directions, and even then they don't always take you where you want to go, or just respond really slowly. That can explain my struggles with the last flight section during this run, though thankfully it didn't cost me the time limit objective. The pack itself came with Sunburn, a fire-type Skylander that resembles a phoenix (or a "burning chicken" according to the Classic Game Room review for said character). In spite of having wings for potential flight, his boosts are more similar to Ghost Roaster's thanks to his Phoenix Dash ability. It doesn't quite make him as fast as Flameslinger, but he is DEFINITELY more durable and I hope to work with him enough to be a great fire-type runner in time for Giants. And a cool level also means a cool hat. If you have an air Skylander (like I used for this run), you can go past the elemental gate to get the Winged Hat, which offers the largest speed boost of them all. Though, I didn't sense much difference with putting it on for some reason; perhaps it affects calling your attacks rather than mobility? BONUS CHAPTER: DRAGON'S PEAK [8m4s] Great choice of elements here. There's an Earth boost here, but it's too narrow to really use Bash properly; and even then I felt Sonic Boom's attacks would cover more ground in the long run than Spyro's. Just as well with the amount of Chompy pods around here, hehe. Skylands - I forgot the chompy pod right at the start. So I guess I was slow moving here. xD The enemy barge around Ramses went down great though. Perfect run through the first flight section! Crystal Falls - Now you see why I picked Sonic Boom. Great fight! A little rock trouble on the next flight section though, not to mention the Dragonets on the third island. The third flight section was just beautiful! Dragon Cliffs - Those chompies up the top seemed a little unpredictable. Had no idea they would just drop onto the rocky structures below. I got to say though, the fourth flight section was NOT my proudest moments. I ended up falling at the last rock TWICE before finally making it. Time lost from my mistakes there - 50 seconds. x__X Path of Challenges - Most bizarre jump pad section in the entire game for me. The fourth pad lost some time due to the flamethrowers pushing me away when I wanted to jump the first time, but nothing too bad. Elder Dragon Throne - Perhaps I should've had more griffin hatchlings around me to speed up the process, but otherwise, I consider it a great fight! And that's all the bonus chapters covered! Here's to all the best for Skylanders Giants coming out in a few days! For now, thank you :D
