@60009's Final Chime? - The Yorkshireman - 07/03/2020
With rumours abound that 60009 may no longer be hauling the WCME on March 28, Union of South Africa is seen on what could sadly be its final mainline tour ever. The A4 was in charge of the northbound leg of The Yorkshireman from London to York up the Midland Mainline. The first shot is in the Erewash Valley at Bennerley Viaduct which formerly carried the GNR Derbyshire Extension freight line. 60009 is seen and heard accelerating away hard, chime blasting, no diesel on the back. Having overtaken it while watering at Barrow Hill the A4 is then seen storming away towards York for the final time, once again with the chime blazing. Farewell Number 9!
