@Black Swan – Mulholland Drive Explained: Mirrors and Art
Our last video we explained the psychological phenomenon, attached to mirrors and reflections. If we understand our reflection as a better version of ourselves, which we would like to see more and always, and we strive to imitate and become, why are we so fascinated and afraid of doppelgangers? This Freudian theory was explored in two cult-classic Hollywood neo-noir, mystery dramas / psychological horror movies: the “Black Swan” and “Mulholland Drive”. We take out the mystical or delirious aspects of those films and explain it through psychological lens. These both movies explore the theme of seeing a part of your psyche as another, different person, which is frightening to some. But why so? Erica – Ayte presented her art in various corners of the world (Austria, England, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Germany, India, Australia, United States, Canada, but most importantly in the Florence biennale in 2019) in order to teach women to recognize their reflection in times of happiness and success not as a villainous stranger, but as their true selves. Dive into deepest levels of art, film and psychology with us.
