I couldn't be more excited to begin my 3-week road trip across Croatia; starting from here in Croatia's capital city of Zagreb. After 27 hours of travel to reach Zagreb, including an 8-hour layover in Istanbul (video), I hit the ground running! I had no real set plan beyond your recommendations on Instagram (@traveldeeper) of the best things to do in Zagreb. Luckily, I also had the guidance of my local Croatian friend, Helena. I started the day with a traditional Croatian breakfast, Burek, and then explored downtown Zagreb. I ventured into Zagreb's main public market, the Dolac Market, and got to experience the traditional Croatian atmosphere. From here, I met up with Helena (https://www.instagram.com/helenarawandlifestyle/) to see the modern side of Zagreb, the Museum of Broken Relationships - which turned out to be so much more emotional than expected. We enjoyed an amazing traditional Croatian lunch at a Zagreb landmark; Okrugljak - only a 15-minute drive from downtown Zagreb. That afternoon, I took the shortest cable car in the world up to Zagreb's old town to see the incredible St. Mark's Church. For dinner, I finished the day in a quiet suburb of Zagreb at local Croatian restaurant that I can't pronounce, lol!
